Nuisance winter storm a prelude to bigger things?

January 3, 2021 By Brad Field Leave a Comment

A nuisance winter storm could be a prelude to bigger weather events in Connecticut, according to meteorologist Brad Field. In a special edition podcast, Field predicts a small storm will strike Connecticut on Jan. 3 into early Jan. 4, dropping a mixed bag of precipitation. Accumulation amounts are dependent on where you live.

Although this is not expected to be a major storm, it could cause some travel difficulties and impact the Jan. 4 morning commute. In his conversation with co-host Dan Lovallo, Field also explains why the storm is expected to stall once it rides by Connecticut and what that could mean in the way of future storms for the region.

August 3, 2020 By Brad Field Leave a Comment

Connecticut will be in the path of Isaias, according to meteorologist Brad Field. In a special storm podcast with co-host Dan Lovallo, Field says Tuesday – particularly Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday night, Aug. 4 – will be stormy, as Isaias passes over Connecticut. Damaging winds and heavy rains are expected.

Wind gusts could hit 50 or 60 MPH – depending on location – and rainfall totals could reach 6 inches in some areas. After the storm passes, low temperatures by Wednesday, Aug. 5 into Thursday could dip into the 50s, according to Field.

Nice weather follows stormy Friday

April 2, 2020 By Brad Field Leave a Comment

Following a nasty weather day on Friday, April 3, the weather will turn nice around Connecticut and New England, according to meteorologist Brad Field. In his weekly podcast with Dan Lovallo, Field says a storm which is backing up from the Atlantic Ocean, will bring rain and wind to the region, especially for Cape Cod and the islands and eastern Connecticut. Expect high winds for the area on Friday.

Once the storm passes, the weather turns real nice, as Field explains. He also looks back at March 2020 weather figures and mentions why what is going on in the Gulf of Mexico could have a major effect on the 2020 hurricane season.

March 23, 2020 By Brad Field Leave a Comment

As we embark on the first full week of spring 2020, winter is making a return to Connecticut and the region, according to meteorologist Brad Field. A winter weather advisory for the region has been issued. Most portions of Connecticut will witness at least some snow, while the northwest corner could receive up to five inches on grassy surfaces, according to Field, as he describes in his weather podcast with co-host Dan Lovallo.

How much of the snow will accumulate on roadways? Field and Lovallo discuss that, while also reviewing the weather map and timing out the storm.

Another stormy weekend looms

January 21, 2020 By Brad Field 1 Comment

It seems as if we are falling into a weekend pattern with storms. In the latest Brad Field Weather podcast, meteorologist Brad Field is predicting another possibility of a weekend storm in Connecticut and the region for January 25-26. In the meantime, our current weather is in a what-you-see-is-what-you-get mode.

Field and co-host Dan Lovallo discuss the possible scenarios in the podcast. In their on-the-weather-map segment, they talk about the varying temperatures across the USA and what that might mean for Connecticut’s weather.

The pair also review the snow amounts from last weekend’s storm and in the “Crystal Ball” segment, Brad looks long-range at what the weather might be into mid-February. For example, more changes could be on the horizon come Super Bowl Sunday. And by the way, Brad and Dan also veer off a bit and give their Super Bowl predictions.

Sunday night into Monday could bring the biggest storm of the season for Connecticut and the region, and much like the first storm, no part of the state will escape the snow.
