New Year's Eve weather in Connecticut should cooperate for revelers.

New Year’s good; Monday iffy

It appears the weather will cooperate for New Year’s revelers, ushering in a new decade. Meteorologist Brad Field predicts the weather should be good for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, however, the outlook for Sunday into Monday is iffy for Connecticut and New England.

In his weekly podcast with Dan Lovallo, Field notes that northern Connecticut and Massachusetts could be confronted with sleet or some form of frozen precipitation, depending on the movement of a high pressure system to the north.

As for the long-range forecast, even though the temperatures will remain above normal, don’t put the snow shovels away, yet. Field says there could be a shift in the weather pattern on either Jan. 4 or Jan. 5 of next year.

Brad and Dan also discuss the amount of daylight we receive this time of year. It may not be what you think. And does the weather in Colorado and Alaska portend Connecticut’s weather? Listen to Brad’s answer.
