Connecticut on verge of plunging into deep winter

January 8, 2021 By Brad Field 5 Comments

Enjoy the almost “boring weather” Connecticut is experiencing, says meteorologist Brad Field, because the state and continental USA are in store for dramatic weather changes. Because of warming temperatures above the North Pole, combined with the so-called Greenland block, the nation is about to be plunged into the depths of winter the likes we have not experienced in quite some time. Atmospheric conditions are serving as a pathway for the return of a Polar Vortex.

In his weekly podcast with co-host Dan Lovallo, Field explains that the weather changes in the Arctic are already underway, serving as a portent of what we can expect, starting around Jan. 14, 2021. What this all means is all sorted out by Field in this latest episode.

Nuisance winter storm a prelude to bigger things?

January 3, 2021 By Brad Field Leave a Comment

A nuisance winter storm could be a prelude to bigger weather events in Connecticut, according to meteorologist Brad Field. In a special edition podcast, Field predicts a small storm will strike Connecticut on Jan. 3 into early Jan. 4, dropping a mixed bag of precipitation. Accumulation amounts are dependent on where you live.

Although this is not expected to be a major storm, it could cause some travel difficulties and impact the Jan. 4 morning commute. In his conversation with co-host Dan Lovallo, Field also explains why the storm is expected to stall once it rides by Connecticut and what that could mean in the way of future storms for the region.

Snow, wind, possible power outages

December 5, 2020 By Brad Field Leave a Comment

Connecticut is getting hit with its first nor’easter of the season, according to meteorologist Brad Field in his weekly podcast with Dan Lovallo. Not only will snow impact the entire state on Dec. 5, eastern Connecticut could see high snow totals, Field stated. Areas along the shore will mostly receive rain, while snow in interior sections will be heavy and wet.

The storm will take a classic nor’easter path and bring with it varying snow amounts across the state with high winds everywhere, that could lead to power outages. With temperatures not rising much, it could mean little snow melt on Sunday, Dec. 6.
