Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving rain prelude to heavy rain next week

November 25, 2020 By Brad Field Leave a Comment

Connecticut will have rain on Thanksgiving Day, according to meteorologist Brad Field, who relayed the details in his weekly podcast with co-host Dan Lovallo. The rain will actually usher in above normal temperatures through the holiday weekend, according to Field.

Enjoy the changes, Field notes, because the weather will make a dramatic turn on Dec. 1, when Connecticut and the region can expect substantial rainfall. The rain will serve as a prelude to a shift in the weather pattern. How that will impact the state’s weather is detailed by Field in the podcast.

Mild weather prelude to cold rain

November 20, 2020 By Brad Field Leave a Comment

Look for some mild temperatures for Friday, Nov. 20 and Saturday, Nov. 21, before our weather gives way to a cold rain late Sunday, according to meteorologist Brad Field.

In their weekly podcast, Field and co-host Dan Lovallo explain what their podcast plans are for the upcoming Thanksgiving week. They also discuss another avenue they will pursue to get the word out on Brad’s long range winter forecast, which was released last month.

As for Connecticut’s recent up-and-down weather patterns – mild, followed by storms and sub-freezing temperatures – Field talks about how the entire world’s weather has an impact on our region’s weather climate.

Connecticut faces big weather change

November 12, 2020 By Brad Field Leave a Comment

Connecticut faces a big weather change, according to meteorologist Brad Field. After a stretch of 70-degree days, unusual for November, the state and region are about to be slapped with a big reality check, notes Field in his weekly podcast with co-host Dan Lovallo.

A cold front, sweeping across the state, has brought rain and a temperature dip. And Field says it is only going to get colder. There will be some moderating temperatures by Thanksgiving Day, but not before a stretch of weather that for a couple of days calls for daytime highs in the 30s, during the week of Nov. 15.

Field, who issued his long range winter forecast a couple of weeks ago, also revisits his winter prediction just a bit, after consulting with the latest resources on the subject. All this and more are in the podcast.

Weather could impact Thanksgiving travel

November 26, 2019 By Brad Field 2 Comments

Weather could have a major impact on Thanksgiving travel, especially on Sunday’s busy return trip home, according to award-winning meteorologist Brad Field. High school football games on Wednesday and Thursday could also feel the effects of the weather, especially with high winds, Field told co-host Dan Lovallo in his weekly podcast.

In the podcast, Field and Lovallo also talk about the weather for the annual Thanksgiving Day road race in Manchester, CT and how winds could hinder Thursday’s Macy’s parade in New York City.

If that is not enough, the big news could be Sunday, the official start of winter on the meteorologist calendar. Winter weather could pack a punch for portions of Connecticut and north, according to Field. It even gets more interesting, after the first week of December. Field and Lovallo go so far as to speculate whether we should be “dreaming of a white Christmas.”
