May

Transition portends delight

May 29, 2020 By Brad Field Leave a Comment

A transition in Connecticut’s weather from May 29 through May 30 will set up a delightful stretch of weather, according to meteorologist Brad Field in his weekly podcast with co-host Dan Lovallo.

In the podcast, Field talks about why the weather is transitioning from a warm, humid stretch to more comfortable temperatures and humidity. He and Lovallo also talk about the meaning of dew point and why it is a more accurate description of weather conditions in summer than humidity.

Field also reviews the weather statistics for May and how it ranks from a normal-weather statistical basis.

May snow on horizon

May 7, 2020 By Brad Field Leave a Comment

A May snowfall is on the horizon for portions of Connecticut, according to meteorologist Brad Field in his latest podcast with co-host Dan Lovallo. Portions of Connecticut could receive up to an inch of snow or maybe a bit more on May 8 into May 9, Field noted.

Why has the weather been unseasonably cold? In the podcast, Field explains the meteorology behind cool, May temperatures. How long will it last? In the “crystal ball segment” Field extends the weather forecast out to the end of May, even taking a guess as to what the Memorial Day weekend might look like, weather wise.

Sunday is spectacular, then…

April 30, 2020 By Brad Field Leave a Comment

Sunday’s weather in Connecticut will be spectacular, according to meteorologist Brad Field. All this, after the month of May gets off to a dismal start. However, after Sunday, the weather will return to below-normal temperatures, Field told his audience and co-host Dan Lovallo in his weekly podcast.

In the podcast, Field and Lovallo discuss the outlook for May and why the unseasonably cold weather has persisted. What will it take to finally bring some springtime weather into Connecticut and the region? Field and Lovallo discuss that, as well.
