Connecticut faces stormy week

February 13, 2021 By Brad Field Leave a Comment

Connecticut is facing a stormy, weather week, according to meteorologist Brad Field in the latest episode of his podcast. Beginning Saturday night, Feb. 13, a series of storms will bring an array of precipitation from snow to ice to sleet and rain.

The storm from Saturday into Sunday, Valentine’s Day, will bring a small amount of precipitation, but as Field details in his conversation with co-host Dan Lovallo, the storms will grow in intensity as the week wears on.

As for any changes long range, Field delves into that topic too. He also discusses atmospheric conditions that are contributing to the current, persistent weather pattern.

New Year’s good; Monday iffy

December 27, 2019 By Brad Field Leave a Comment

It appears the weather will cooperate for New Year’s revelers, ushering in a new decade. Meteorologist Brad Field predicts the weather should be good for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, however, the outlook for Sunday into Monday is iffy for Connecticut and New England.

In his weekly podcast with Dan Lovallo, Field notes that northern Connecticut and Massachusetts could be confronted with sleet or some form of frozen precipitation, depending on the movement of a high pressure system to the north.

As for the long-range forecast, even though the temperatures will remain above normal, don’t put the snow shovels away, yet. Field says there could be a shift in the weather pattern on either Jan. 4 or Jan. 5 of next year.

Brad and Dan also discuss the amount of daylight we receive this time of year. It may not be what you think. And does the weather in Colorado and Alaska portend Connecticut’s weather? Listen to Brad’s answer.

Field says no sign of spring

March 7, 2019 By Dan Lovallo Leave a Comment

If you’re looking for an early start to spring forget about it, according to meteorologist Brad Field. In his latest podcast with co-host Dan Lovallo, Field states the cold weather will persist with ice and snow on the horizon for early Sunday morning, Mar. 10 into early Sunday afternoon.

One thing is predictable, we start Daylight Savings Time on Sunday. But when will the temperatures moderate? Field says there is some moderation on the horizon but don’t look for any unseasonable heat buildup, as winter enters its waning weeks.

Field: Ice storm coming, but watch out for March 4

February 19, 2019 By Dan Lovallo Leave a Comment

Meteorologist Brad Field says we will get more ice than snow, when the next storm system hits Connecticut on Wednesday, Feb. 20. In his latest podcast, Field talks about a rather active weather period, in his conversation with co-host Dan Lovallo.

We can expect another storm around Feb. 27 followed by an Arctic blast. That will set the stage for a frigid stretch in the first weekend of March, according to Field, who also says the forces are in alignment for a possible whopper of a storm on Mar. 4.

Field and Lovallo discuss that and weather around the country in the podcast, including snow in Las Vegas.

Field says ice could impact snowstorm

January 17, 2019 By Brad Field 6 Comments

Ice could be a major factor in the upcoming snowstorm expected to impact the region Saturday night into Sunday, according to meteorologist Brad Field.

In his latest podcast, Field discusses with Dan Lovallo how atmospheric conditions could lead to ice on top of the snowfall – expected to reach 10 inches or more in some portions of Connecticut. Throw in bone-chilling temperatures and 30 MPH winds in the storm’s aftermath and you have the recipe for power outages across Connecticut.

And if you’re hoping for moderating temperatures later in the week, well don’t count on that either. Field details it all, while also providing a weather outlook for Sunday’s AFC Championship game between the New England Patriots and Chiefs in Kansas City.
